Good evening,
Today was super busy! We began our day with lectures featuring malaria and dengue fever. The doctors that went into detail about each of these disease states and how they compared to the United States and how they go about treating their patients. I got the chance to try Ramadan a fruit that was offered during a morning tea break. After lunch (which was cafeteria food) we got to visit with patients who ranged from 4 months to 12 years old who were infected with dengue fever. They discussed what symptoms brought them each into the hospital (which was mostly a high grade fever for around 3-5 days) along with what lab values they look for in order to discharge them. After the educational portion of our day ended, a few classmates went to get massages at a local place, which was amazing. Super relaxing and just what the doctor ordered. To end the night, the boys in our group got their custom ordered suits fitted which was mesmerizing because of how many fabrics there was to choose them. It was crazy! I cant wait for tomorrow where we go to the ever famous floating market that I have heard so much about!
Talk to you soon,
Carly
