Cooking Class

Hello again!

From the past year the students had comments about the adventures we would go on and the cooking class was always known as the best day ever. Today, I found out that indeed, it was the best day ever. We started our journey out visiting the market where they sourced all our ingredients. We got to know all the information about the different rices, herbs, spices among many other things. Next we arrived at the 'cooking class' which looked like a giant outdoor tree house with hammocks, a pond, animals and farms. We took a walk through the garden/farm and got to see all the different herbs and flowers that were grown on that property that we would soon use to make our food. There was 6 courses, yes I said 6 courses of food. We got the opportunity to choose for 5 of the courses which brought out peoples adventurous side. I personally made pad Thai (which ended up being my favorite), spring rolls, papaya salad, tom yum soup, Khao soi and finished off with mango sticky rice. We got to make 80% of the food along with mashing the spices for the curry paste. We diced, chopped and did a LOT of sweating. This was certainly a day to remember. Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Chiang Mai!

Till next time,
Carly Wershoven
